Jude Bellingham and Tchouameni have also discussed Mbappe’s potential move to Real Madrid

Earlier this week, a video showing Jude Bellingham and Aurelien Tchouameni, colleagues at Real Madrid, having a conversation went viral. The two may be heard talking about two players in it; Bellingham claims that one is superior to the other, but their names are bleeped out. Tchouaméni says otherwise.

The first thing that people assumed was that Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappé were the topics of conversation.

“He’s a great guy, an unbelievable guy,” said Bellingham, suggesting that he had a personal relationship with the player in question. The Englishman had played with Haaland at Borussia Dortmund.

However, Tchouaméni clarified the discussion during a press conference on Thursday. The two were talking about Eric Dier and Dayot Upamecano, not Mbappé and Haaland, as many had initially assumed.

“We weren’t speaking about Kylian and Erling. We were speaking about Dier and Dayot,” said Tchouaméni.

“He’s better than your boy,” added Bellingham. Tchouaméni clearly disagreed, “Please, please, please, please,” said the Frenchman, who many thought was defending compatriot and perhaps soon-to-be team-mate at Real Madrid, Mbappé.

He added, “He was talking about Dier and me about Dayot. That’ll sell less, but it’s the truth.” Bellingham certainly rates his fellow Englishman highly, ranking him above his Bayern Munich teammate Upamecano, who has consolidated his place at the heart of France’s defence.

The debate regarding Mbappe’s future among players at Real Madrid is in sharp contrast to the manager Carlo Ancelotti’s silence when asked about the Parisian after Saturday’s vital La Liga victory against Girona, who is vying for the title.Ever since he made his debut at Monaco as a young player, the 25-year-old has been linked to a move to Real Madrid. In the end, he moved to Paris in 2017 for £163 million, even though Madrid was also vying for his services at the time.Since then, Mbappe has flourished, leading PSG to multiple championships and leading France to two World Cup finals—one in 2018 and the other four years later, which they lost to Argentina on penalties.
