The English winger is currently on loan at Dortmund from Man United

Jude Bellingham and Zinedine Zidane have both recommended Real Madrid to sign Manchester United’s Jadon Sancho, according to reports.

At Zidane’s request, Sancho nearly signed for Real Madrid in 2017, but he ultimately decided to go to Borussia Dortmund where he emerged as an elite player and subsequently joined Manchester United in 2021.

However, at United, he couldn’t emulate his Dortmund form and became a peripheral figure as his form further declined and his relationship with his current manager collapsed which saw him loaned back to the German club.

But Zinedine Zidane reportedly targeted Jadon Sancho before he joined Manchester United as a top target once more in an attempt to weed out the weak players from his previous Real Madrid team in the summer and bring in some new blood for 2019.

According to the German daily Bild, Zidane was prepared to agree to Dortmund’s asking price for Sancho, who is estimated to be worth $80 million euros. But the Bundesliga team most likely valued him closer to $100 million, and a number of other clubs were also keeping an eye on the matter.

Real Madrid changed their approach to signing during the transfer window as they recruited more young players instead of experienced individuals to form a side for the future. Madrid’s signing of Vincius, Rodrygo and Bellingham has paid big dividends.

In addition to being young enough, Sancho has demonstrated his abilities on the largest platforms. During his early years at Dortmund, he was also a member of an elite group of players that included Leo Messi and Eden Hazard and his playing skills were compared to big players back in his first season in Dortmund.

Dortmund “will try everything” to retain Jadon Sancho

Sebastian Kehl, the sporting director, stated on Sunday that Borussia Dortmund “will try everything” to retain Jadon Sancho, a Manchester United loanee, through the end of the campaign.

Sancho, who is under contract through 2026 with the Red Devils, returned to Dortmund in January for a six-month stint. Before making a large financial transfer to the Premier League in 2021, he established himself at Dortmund.

After a clash with manager Erik ten Hag early in the season, the England international has struggled at United and made just one appearance in three games off the bench.
