Hazard emerged from Lille academy before joining Chelsea and then Real Madrid
The new training facility for LOSC Lille is named after Eden Hazard. After five seasons with the French club early on in his career, the winger announced his retirement last year.
The former player for Real Madrid and Chelsea, Eden Hazard, is also being greeted in his native Lille in fashion, with a burger of his creation at Stade Pierre-Mauroy.
The former Belgium international will be an honoured guest when Lille hosts Rennes in the Premier League on Sunday. The 33-year-old is going back to where it all started for him, having made a name for himself in French football during his senior year.
After graduating from Lilleโs academy and spending 12 years on the team, Hazard made 194 senior appearances and scored 50 goals. Before obtaining a transfer to Premier League powerhouse Chelsea in 2012, he assisted them in winning the Coupe de France and Ligue 1.
Before moving to Real Madrid in 2019, Hazard won additional championships in England and was also named to the FA Cup and Europa League. Lille continues to have the utmost respect for the gifted forward, despite his disastrous time at Santiago Bernabeu, which forced him to retire early in 2023.
After moving to Chelsea in 2012, Hazard spent the following seven years establishing himself as one of the top players in England. He won multiple individual awards in addition to two Premier League titles, two Europa League accolades, and one FA Cup. But it was his early Lille years that drew interest from people all around Europe.
