The Argentine is not thinking about retiring anytime soon.
It seems Lionel Messi still has many more years to play football after the forward discussed his future. The Argentine revealed he is currently enjoying every moment of his career and feels good.
Messi, who is currently 37, is seemingly nearing his retirement and doesn’t have many years left. But his recent comments say otherwise. The fans might actually enjoy more years of the Argentine gracing the pitch.
In an interview, the former Barcelona forward discussed his future plans and said: “My future? I feel good now and I’m just enjoying every moment of my career. I’m enjoying club, games, teammates, family, friends… I’m not anticipating things. I’m just loving and enjoying the moment.”
His comments indicate that he could be playing for more years. Given that the 2026 FIFA World Cup is next year, we can witness the former Paris Saint-Germain player participating in the tournament as Argentina try to defend the trophy.
Meanwhile, Messi’s Inter Miami deal will expire in December, and it remains to be seen if the forward will extend his stay at the club for another year.
Moreover, he is linked with a move to Barcelona, with speculations revealing that Messi hopes to play at renovated Camp Nou next year. However, so far, the reports have been dismissed by the journalist Guillem Balagué.
Messi is enjoying his time with the Herons after winning two trophies with the club so far. This season, his next objective is to win the MLS Cup, which his side failed to get their hands on last season as they were eliminated.
Inter Miami will return to action tonight when they face Houston Dynamo in their second MLS game of the 2025 season. However their star player Messi will miss the game as the forward has been handed rest after playing in the previous three matches.
