Liverpool hold firm at the top with thrilling 2-1 victory over Chelsea

Salah and Jones got the job done for the Reds.

Liverpool came out on top once again with a narrow 2-1 win against Chelsea, as the Reds maintain their top spot in the Premier League.

It was going to be a tough game for Arne Slot but the Dutchman got the job done as his side showed determination and rallied to a close win. It saw them continue their winning run in the league.

The Reds found the back of the net when Mohamed Salah fired the ball past Robert Sanchez from the spot, while Chelsea continued to exert pressure. The Blues finally managed to find the back of the net as Nicolas Jackson cancelled Salah’s goal.

But just three minutes later Slot’s side showed their goalscoring prowess in front of the goal again. Curtis Jones gave the Reds the lead in the 51st minute with an excellent finish as they maintained their lead in a highly intense game.

This was a massive win for Liverpool. They surely were tested against a side who were playing entertaining football. Liverpool got their job done and will look forward for the next match.

Meanwhile, for Chelsea, they gave an excellent fight. They did create many chances but lacked the cutting edge. Hopefully, they will take solace from their performance despite the defeat as Enzo Maresca seems to have laid down his system impressively.

The Blues have made significant progress under the Italian coach, who is still building the team and making them an elite squad once more.

Liverpool’s next games will be tough as they will take on RB Leipzig in the Champions League and then Arsenal in the Premier League.

Meanwhile, the Blues will face Panathinaikos in the UEFA Conference League and will hope to bounce back from their loss against Liverpool.

Liverpool maintain their top spot. They are just a point ahead of Manchester City, who are second, while Chelsea who were fourth in the table have dropped down to sixth place.
