The striker has three months remaining on his deal.

Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez’s “Last Dance” together might not be ending soon. The former Liverpool striker is expected to sign a new deal with the MLS side Inter Miami.

When the veteran forward moved to Florida at the beginning of 2024, he reunited with Messi, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba, his former teammates at Barcelona. To do so, he broke off his relationship with Gremio, a Brazilian team, and accepted a new challenge in America.

Suarez has been open about his long-standing fitness concerns, including knee difficulties that require cautious management. Meanwhile, in 2024, he already scored 20 goals for Inter Miami across all competitions, following in Messi’s footsteps and setting personal records.

According to the Miami Herald, who heard Suarez discuss his plans: “As far as his future with Inter Miami goes, he didn’t say exactly.

His contract ends in December, he only signed a one-year deal, but he did say: ‘I want to enjoy football a little more,’ that to me is a hint that he would sign one more year. Messi has one more year, so maybe Suarez will be able to sign for one more year.”

The 37-year-old only agreed to a 12-month deal when he joined the Herons. But now it’s possible that he may sign an extension to remain with Messi and company.

Suarez can now concentrate more on his club responsibilities since he has retired from international duty. The Uruguayan amassed 142 caps for his nation. Relieving himself from international commitments will help him have more free time to rest and recover. This will help him to continue which is one the most illustrious of careers of a footballer. Inter Miami are presently vying for an MLS Cup championship.

After joining the MLS club, the striker did not take much time to settle and started firing all cylinders. He has impressively teamed up with his former Barcelona teammates and has been crucial in helping the side become a dominant team in the league.

It was believed that Inter Miami would suffer in the absence of Lionel Messi, who picked up an injury during Copa America 2024. But that has not been the case as Suarez has taken the onus and continues to impress with his goalscoring prowess.
