The Red Devils will travel to White Hart Lane to face Spurs.
Manchester United have enjoyed a lot of success in previous years in domestic cup competitions, and they might give the team’s 2024–2025 season purpose.
Winning a trophy in his first season as United coach could be seen as the right step under Ruben Amorim after Erik ten Hag’s tenure at Manchester demonstrated that winning silverware is not the end all.
After a thrilling victory in the Manchester Derby the Red Devils are undoubtedly doing better than their rivals in terms of injuries. United enters Thursday’s cup match with the hope of continuing their winning streak.
Manchester United team news for quarterfinal matchup against Spurs
In the past few weeks, Jonny Evans has been eligible for selection, and Harry Maguire, Leny Yoro, and Victor Lindelof have all rejoined the team. Although he returned to training last week, the seasoned defender was left out of the matchday squads for Man City and Viktoria Plzen.
Evans might travel to Tottenham on Thursday, but Amorim might use young players to cover the last two spaces on his bench.
After battling a calf issue for the majority of 2024, Luke Shaw experienced a further setback at the end of November when a hamstring injury plagued him. The England international is probably not going to be seen until the new year.
Noussair Mazraoui made an impression throughout the weekend but was replaced 78 minutes into the match, with the exception of one period in which Jeremy Doku put him on his backside. Due to an injury, Amorim has stated that the Moroccan will be evaluated before Thursday’s cup match.
Amorim is a fan of Mason Mount, and the Englishman featured in the Manchester Derby starting lineup. Mount didn’t play more than ten minutes, though, before Kobbie Mainoo took his position on the Etihad field.
Although the extent of his most recent setback has not yet been verified, Amorim declared quite frankly that Mount is “not available” during his pre-match press conference.
Although Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho were not included in the matchday roster on Sunday, United have no offensive injuries. Rashford has subsequently implied that a move away from Manchester would be required, and the manager stated that a variety of considerations were taken when choosing to leave the two out. However, Garnacho has been included for the clash against Spurs.
