Manchester United star falls out with Erik ten Hag following FA Cup final: Reports

The Red Devils won the FA Cup 2-1 against City

After telling Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag that he would not like to play in the FA Cup final against Manchester City due to a minor injury, Casemiro and the manager have fallen out.

Despite not being fully fit, Ten Hag named Casemiro on the bench for the encounter at Wembley despite the fact that he had started the previous ten games, seven of which were in central defence.

Despite having his name on the official team sheet, the Brazilian informed Ten Hag he wasn’t interested in participating and he pulled from the squad altogether, replacing himself among the replacements with Willy Kambwala.

Casemiro reportedly told Ten Hag he had a sore hamstring and asked not to even play as a replacement. This is according to BBC Sport. The former Real Madrid player sent a letter to fans on Sunday night pledging better performances next season, and he was photographed holding the FA Cup on the pitch after United defeated City 2-1.

Casemiro attended their post-season celebration, but he left right away to take a vacation with his family aboard a private aircraft. The 32-year-old’s poor performance at United this year has kept him out of the Brazil team for the Copa America.

Due to several injuries plaguing the United squad, he played the last month of the season as a centre-back during his trying second season at Old Trafford. Casemiro’s most likely destination, should he depart United, appears to be the Saudi Pro League, where he has been long linked to a summertime move.

After winning the Carabao Cup in February 2023, the Red Devils defeated City and captured their second major cup in as many years with a strong showing.

Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo’s goals in the first half gave them a solid lead, and even though Jeremy Doku’s late strike gave United a memorable victory, they managed to hold on.
