Manchester United beat Liverpool 4-3 to secure a place in the FA Cup semi-final
At Old Trafford, Manchester United’s thrilling FA Cup quarterfinal triumph in the final minute ruined Liverpool’s aspirations of winning four trophies and preserved United’s trophy aspirations for the current campaign.
The match-winner got sent off following receiving a second yellow card for his jubilation. In an event-filled contest, it was replacement Amad Diallo who propelled Erik ten Hag’s team to Wembley with an equaliser in the last seconds of the extra period, sending the Stretford End wild. The moment Diallo’s shot zipped past Liverpool custodian Caoimhin Kelleher, United boss Ten Hag broke into a happy dance, perfectly encapsulated everything about this suspenseful match.
During the 10th minute, Scott McTominay scored a close-range goal after Kelleher had saved Alejandro Garnacho’s attempt, demonstrating United’s eagerness to advance to the round of sixteen at Wembley.
Although Liverpool flipped the match on their own and stunned United with two goals in three minutes on the hour mark of halftime, Kelleher again denied McTominay from close quarters.
Man United paid the price after Jarell Quansah ran forward unopposed to play in Darwin Nunez. Alexis Mac Allister levelled when his effort rebounded off Kobbie Mainoo.

Andre Onana’s block from Nunez allowed Mohamed Salah, United’s constant nemesis, to score his 13th goal in 14 games against them, scoring out in front of the Stretford End.
Following halftime, Liverpool had the best of the chances, but three minutes before the conclusion of regulation time, substitute Antony tied the score with a low shot on the turn. Marcus Rashford subsequently received the opportunity to win the game, but he mishandled an easy finish to miss.
After 105 minutes, Harvey Elliott, a substitute, gave Liverpool the lead again. His 20-yard effort twisted tantalisingly past Onana’s grasp after Christian Eriksen gave it a key touch.
Although it appeared as though Liverpool prevailed over United, the hosts managed to maintain composure and earned an equaliser when McTominay found Rashford, who tapped the ball past the Liverpool goalie.
As extra time drew near, it seemed as though penalties would decide the outcome. However, United had something else in mind. After Liverpool’s corner, United launched a counterattack, led by Garnacho and Amad.
The Argentine then found Diallo, whose attempt saw the ball go beyond Kelleher and send United to the semi-finals, where they will play Coventry.
