Marcos Alonso agrees to join Atletico Madrid in summer 2024: Report

Marcos Alonso is set to leave Barcelona at the end of the season
When his contract with Barcelona expires this summer, Marcos Alonso will be a free agent, sources say. Alonso agreed to an 18-month deal in January 2023, with the possibility to extend it by another 12 months provided he participates in 50% of the games this season.
However, due to a back ailment and the availability of alternative options, Alonso’s playing time has been limited to just 299 minutes in seven appearances across all competitions this season.
It has been decided to say goodbye to Marcos Alonso at the end of the season, according to Fabrizio Romano. Alejandro Balde is the favoured starter, and loanee Joao Cancelo is considered the primary backup.
With 37 appearances in the previous campaign, Alonso was utilised frequently as a left-back as well as in an unexpected centre-back duty. Because of his versatility, his initial one-year contract was extended.
But he was cut from the team at the beginning of the season, and he missed time in December and March due to a back ailment. He rejoined the team last month, but he hasn’t played yet.
