Some of the best forwards in the history of the Premier League
The Premier League is an unforgiving competition where the demands and the expectations of the fans are extremely high. Often regarded as the toughest football league in the world due to the quality of players plying their trade in it, it can be a challenge for a foreign player to come to the division and make a lasting impact.
However, there have been exceptional players such as Erling Haaland who have settled in nicely and achieved massive success over the years. The Norwegian international won the 2023-24 Golden Boot award after winning it in the previous season as well. With this feat, he also became the fourth overseas player to win the Golden Boot in successive campaigns.
On that note, here is a look at the four overseas players who have won Premier League Golden Boot awards in back-to-back campaigns:
4. Thierry Henry
Theirry Henry, regarded as one of the best foreign players to ever grace the Premier League, won the Golden Boot award a total of four times. The legendary Arsenal striker and FIFA World Cup winner with France won the 2003-04, 2004-05 and 2005-06 Golden Boot awards after scoring 30, 25 and 27 goals respectively. He is the only individual to win the award on three successive occasions in the 21st century.
3. Robin van Persie
Robin van Persie also won the Golden Boot award in successive seasons. The Netherlands international won it for the first time in the 2011-12 season by scoring 30 goals for Arsenal. Then, the striker scored 26 goals in the following 2012-13 campaign by scoring 26 goals for Manchester United in a term where he also won the Premier League with the Red Devils.

2. Mohamed Salah
Mohamed Salah’s goalscoring feats for Liverpool earned the club plenty of success in the Jurgen Klopp era. The Egyptian attacker became a fan favourite at the club after signing from AS Roma in 2017. He scored a whopping 32 goals during the 2017-18 season and won the Golden Boot again during the 2018-19 season with 22 goals for the Reds.
1. Erling Haaland
Erling Haaland becomes the fourth overseas player to win the Golden Boot award after guiding Manchester City to a fourth consecutive Premier League title. The 2022-23 season was his first taste of the league where the former Borussia Dortmund striker scored 36 goals, the highest for an individual in a Premier League season.
The 23-year-old followed up his marvellous debut season in the Premier League by winning the Golden Boot in the next, scoring 27 goals during the 2023-24 campaign. If the Norwegian wins the award next season, he will match Thierry Henry for winning it three times in succession in the 21st century.
