Portugal predicted lineup for UEFA Euro 2024; Cristiano Ronaldo to lead the line once again

We do have France and England as the favourites for the Euro 2024. However, we can’t discount Portugal as one of the teams to get hold of the coveted title this year. They had a dismal season in the last Euro as they faced a knockout punch in the round of 16 against Belgium. Then, they were knocked out by Morocco in the quarter final of the FIFA World Cup 2022.

Hence, they will be looking to make their presence known in the Euro 2024. It will be the first huge assignment for the new Portugal coach Robert Martinez who took over from Fernando Santos after the World Cup in 2022.

Portugal do have an excellent group of players and will try to give their best for their legend Cristiano Ronaldo, in probably his last big international tournament. Let us take a look at the predicted lineup of Portugal for the upcoming Euro 2024.

Ruben Dias (CB)

Ruben Dias has been the first choice centre back for Manchester City and arguably one of the best defenders this season. Dias has kept 15 clean sheets in 45 appearances in 2023-24 season.

Goncalo Inacio (CB)

The young centre-back has been one of the most emerging defenders in the world in the current season. He will feature with Dias at the heart of the defence in Euro 2024. He has kept 14 clean sheets in 49 games played in the 2023-24 season.

Joao Cancelo (LB)

Joao Cancelo has been at his attacking best last season for Barcelona. He will most likely feature in the left-back spot for Portugal in the Euro 2024. Cancelo scored 4 goals and 5 assists in 42 games last term.

Joao Palhinha (DM)

Palhinha will play as the defensive midfielder in the Portugal line-up. Palhinha has scored 4 goals and 1 assist in the 39 games played this season. He will have a key role in breaking up play and a good Euro 2024 campaign could also lead the defensive modifier to a big-money move away from Fulham this summer.

Vitinha (CM)

Vitinha is expected to feature as the central midfielder on the right side of the midfield. He has scored 9 goals 5 assists in the 46 appearances during the 2023-24 season. He will be expected to play an integral part in the midfield for the Euro 2024.

Bruno Fernandes (CM)

The Manchester United captain, Bruno Fernandes, will play in the left central midfield for the Portugal side. He scored 15 goals and 13 assists in 48 appearances during the 2023-24 season. Bruno will be the one to watch out for as his side will look to have a successful tournament.

Bernardo Silva (RW)

The talismanic Manchester City star, Bernardo Silva, will feature in the right wing for the Portugal side. He is expected to be one of the most destructive attacking threat for his side in the 2024 Euros. He has scored 11 goals and 10 assists in the 49 games played in the 2023-24 season, which saw Man City lift a 4th successive Premier League title.

Rafael Leao (LW)

Rafael Leao has been at his destructive best on the left wing in the season. He can take apart the defenders with his dribbling skills and can destroy any defensive lineup. He has scored 15 goals and 14 assists in the 47 appearances this season.

Cristiano Ronaldo (CF)

The Portugal legend will again lead the line for his side. He is an absolute machine as he scores goals at will. Cristiano Ronaldo, will again be expected to break the scoring charts for his side. He has scored 44 goals and 13 assists in 45 appearances during the 2023-24 season.
