There are still multiple teams fighting for the UCL spot.

From the English Premier League, three clubs have already sealed their UEFA Champions League spot for the next season. Liverpool have won the league title, Arsenal will finish second, and Tottenham Hotspur are coming in the Champions League 2025-26 season after winning the UEFA Europa League 2024-25 title.

There are still three spots left to be grabbed by the top teams so that they can compete in the UCL for the upcoming season. It is the final match day of the Premier League 2024-25 season, and there is still a lot at stake for multiple clubs who want to play European football next season.

Some can simply win their upcoming league fixture and seal the qualification spot. Meanwhile, others will have to rely on results elsewhere.

The Premier League teams getting relegated at the end of the season are confirmed. Leicester City, Ipswich Town and Southampton. With their lacklustre performances, they found themselves at the bottom three of the league table.

Champions League Battle

The battle for the Premier League top five is the most important and biggest talking point on the final day of the Premier League 2024-25 season. Two spots have already been sealed, the first by the EPL winners Liverpool and then the second-placed Arsenal. There are still three slots to battle for, and there are five teams in the race.

One of them are Manchester City, who have 68 points and are in third place currently. The Cityzens take on Fulham for their final EPL match this season. A win for them can easily get them going. They will not be looking to drop points.

Then come the Carabao Cup/EFL Cup winners Newcastle United, who have 66 points on the league table, which is the same as Chelsea and Aston Villa. The Magpies take on Everton, who might give them a tough time. Eddie Howe-led Newcastle will have to come up with a win here if they want to play in the UCL next season.

Chelsea take on Nottingham Forest, who have 65 points. Both sides have a chance to make it to the top five. It is going to be an evenly matched contest. The two teams will be looking to outshine one another to grab those three crucial points.

Aston Villa are all set to lock horns with Manchester United. For the Villans, it is not going to be an easy contest. But looking at the recent performances by Man United, Unai Emery’s men have a higher chance of getting through. Aston Villa have done well and will be keen to come up with a top display one more time this season.

Race for Europa League

Chelsea are going to battle Real Betis in the final of the UEFA Conference League this season. If the Blues go on to win the final, then the team finishing in eighth place on the Premier League table will be granted a spot in the UEFA Europa League next season.

For the eighth-place battle, we have a couple of strong contenders, namely Brighton & Hove Albion and Brentford.

Even if Enzo Maresca-led Chelsea finishes seventh but then goes on to win the Conference League final, then too the team finishing in eighth place will have a chance in the Europa League next season.

Golden Awards

As the Premier League season is coming to a close, this means there will be recognition of great performers by prestigious awards. The Premier League has three Golden Awards. The Golden Boot for the top goal-scorer, the player with the most assists to get the Playmaker award and the Golden Glove for the goalkeeper with the most clean sheets this season.

It is most likely to be Mohamed Salah who is going to clinch the Golden Boot and Playmaker award. The Liverpool winger has scored 28 goals and has 18 assists to his name in 37 Premier League appearances.

It will be the second time that Salah is going to complete a double, and be the first player in EPL history to do so. Salah previously clinched the Golden Boot and Playmaker award in the 2021-22 season.

Mohamed Salah can also go on to break some individual records. 47 goal involvements stand as the record; the Liverpool winger has 46 goal contributions. The record is currently held by Cole from the 1993-94 season and by Alan Shearer for the 1994-95 season.

David Raya of Arsenal and Matz Sels of Nottingham Forest are the top contenders for the Golden Glove award as they both have 13 clean sheets this season.

Club Records

Multiple clubs have some records to break. Bournemouth, Fulham and Crystal Palace have already set the club record for English Premier League points. These teams can go on to further extend them as well.

Bournemouth have already gone past their previous tally and now have 53 points on the board. They will now be looking to defeat Leicester City to further extend their points tally on the final day.

Fulham set a new club record after their win in their last league fixture. They now have 54 points, which is better than their last finish of 53 points back in 2008-09.

Crystal Palace, the FA Cup winners, do have a chance to get to ninth place if they beat Liverpool on the final day. They have 52 points on board and with a big goal difference win can end their campaign in the ninth place, which will be better than last year’s 10th place.
