The Bundesliga was formed in 1962, with the inaugural season taking place the following year 1963-64. It consists of 18 teams and is slightly smaller than the Premier League or LaLiga, but it is still considered one of Europe’s big five leagues. The Bundesliga boasts some extremely talented players and international stars. Bayern Munich, based in the historic southern region of Bavaria, are the most successful team in the league and is one of the best teams in Europe.

Since its inception, there have been many players who created many records and broke many records. many elite clinical strikers have played and made their name in the league. Here we will take a look at the top ten players who were the quickest to score 50 Bundesliga goals for Bayern Munich:

10. Lothar Matthaus – 105 matches

Lothar Matthaus is not only a Bayern Munich legend but also a legend for his national team. He made 150 appearances for West Germany and scored 23 goals. Matthaus is widely considered by many to be one of the greatest and most complete midfielders of all time. The German was renowned for his positioning, technical ability, stamina, passing, tackling and long-range shooting ability with both feet. Despite being a midfielder he scored a lot of goals in his career and scored 50 goals in just 105 matches for the Bavarian giants.

9. Rainer Ohlhauser – 102 matches

Rainer played for the Bavarian team for nine years and scored a total of 215 goals in 286 matches. He played a key role in Bayern Munich’s win of the UEFA Cup in the 1966-67 season. Won the DFB-Pokal with the club three times and also the Bundesliga once. Despite being short in stature he was strong and technically elite in his playing days.

8. Dieter Hoenb – 96 matches

In his playing days, he played for VfR Aalen, VfB Stuttgart and Bayern Munich. Dieter made 224 appearances for the club and scored 102 goals. He also represented his national team in six matches and scored four goals. The German was a typical striker in his playing days who was known to have a knack for scoring goals. Dieter was known for his professionalism and discipline throughout his playing days.

7. Giovane Elber – 91 matches

He is a Brazilian former professional player who used to play as a striker. A prolific goalscorer in various clubs, Leber’s career was mostly spent in Germany, where he represented Bayern Munich for six full seasons scoring a total of 133 league goals in 260 matches for three clubs. For the Selecao he played 15 matches and netted two goals.

The Dutchman is a Bayern Munich legend who has helped the club to win numerous trophies. Arjen Robben was regarded as one of the best wingers in the world. His ability to get to the byline and deliver crosses used to create a lot of trouble for the opposition team. Most of the time he used his strong left foot to do all the trickery. Overall he was a top player who scored numerous goals for his club and country. It took him 90 games to score 50 goals in the Bundesliga.

5. Gerd Muller – 83 matches

Nicknamed ‘Der Bomber’ by his legions of fans, Gerd Muller was a legend of German football with an unbelievable goal record.
