Real Madrid, the Kings of Europe, are back again for yet another UCL final. They have made it a habit for themselves to reach the final of the toughest and most prestigious tournament in club football.
We all know that whenever they reach the final of the UCL, they win it. This time around, they will be looking forward to their 15th UCL title. They are just built for this tournament and for these magical nights. Los Blancos never gave up and even this time around, they were faced with incredible resistance.
However, they did not give up and fought till the end to reach the coveted final yet again. They have also managed to reclaim the Laliga title and will now aim to secure the double. In this article, we will take a look at Real Madrid’s road to the UCL final in 2023-24.
Won all the matches in Group C
They managed to win all the 6 games in the group stages. Napoli, Braga and Union Berlin could not match their stature and were unable to take even a point from the hands of the 14-time UCL champions. They also averaged an impressive 2.66 goals per game in the group stages.
They were simply outstanding, dominant and ruthless. Real Madrid beat Union Berlin by a scoreline of 1-0 at home in the first game. Then, in the second game, they managed to beat Napoli by 3-2 away from home. In the third game, Ancelotti’s side beat Braga away from home by a margin of 2-1.
In the fourth game, they decimated Braga at home by a scoreline of 3-0. In the fifth game, Los Blancos beat Napoli 4-2 at the Santiago Bernabeu. In the final game of the group stage, they beat Union Berlin 3-2 away from home.

Managed to just get past RB Leipzig in the Round of 16
Andriy Lunin was the hero of the tie, as he defended the crest with incredible saves at home in the second leg. Real Madrid managed to win the tie against RB Leipzig by an aggregate score of 2-1, courtesy of Brahim Diaz’s spectacular goal in the first leg at the Red Bull Arena.
In the first leg at the Red Bull Arena, Real Madrid won the game 1-0. In the second leg, the match ended with a scoreline of 1-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Managed to brush off Manchester City at the penalty shoot-out in the quarter-final
Everyone expected that the favourites Manchester City will defeat Real Madrid and it will be the end of the road for the Los Blancos. However, Real Madrid displayed yet again why they are kings of the special night. The game ended at 3-3 in the first leg at Santiago Bernabeu.
However, in the second leg at Etihad, Real Madrid had to face relentless attack after attack in practically every minute. However, they defended till the very end and even in the extra time with an extraordinary spirit, taking the game into a penalty shoot-out with an aggregate score of 4-4. At the end, Real Madrid held their nerves and managed to beat Manchester City in the penalty shoot out and march to the semi final.
Came from behind to win the tie against Bayern Munich in the semi-final
Real Madrid faced yet another challenge from the strong Bayern Munich side in the semi-final. The game ended at 2-2 in the first leg in Munich and it was all to play for in the second leg at the Bernabeu. Bayern scored the goal courtesy of Alphonso Davies’ strike in the 68th minute.
Bayern were cruising to the final with an aggregate score of 3-2 until a late double strike from Joselu in the 88th minute and in extra time turned the tables for Real Madrid. They managed to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat and marched to the final to face Dortmund.
