The Belgium goalkeeper will be out for two weeks.

Real Madrid shot-stopper Thibaut Courtois has picked up a thigh injury and will be for two weeks after he underwent scans on Monday morning following Real’s 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid.

After the game, Carlo Ancelotti confirmed that the Belgium goalkeeper had suffered an injury but didn’t reveal the severity of the ailment, but now the scans have confirmed he will be sidelined for two weeks.

Courtois will be absent for the games against Lille this week and a LaLiga encounter against Villarreal next weekend on Saturday night. He is expected to be back for Real’s match against Celta Vigo on the 19th of October if there are no complications.

Following tests carried out today on our player Thibaut Courtois by Real Madrid’s Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with an abductor injury in his left leg,” the club announced on its website

Andriy Lunin will once again get the chance to be Real’s first-choice goalkeeper for some weeks now. The Ukrainian custodian signed a new deal until 2030.

Last season when Courtois suffered two injuries ACL and a torn meniscus, Lunin was given the duty to remain Madrid’s goalkeeper for the majority of the last campaign. He was excellent in the absence of former Atletico goalkeeper and stepped up in many crucial games.

With two main players out injured, the club will have to avoid losing their winning momentum if they hope to close the gap with rivals Barcelona.

Ancelotti’s side are second in the table with three points below Barcelona after drawing 1-1 with local rivals Atletico. Real had an excellent chance to level points with Barcelona, who lost to Osasuna 4-2.

Kylian Mbappe receives call-up for Real Madrid’s game against Lille.

Kylian Mbappe has received a call-up for Real Madrid’s Champions League encounter against Lille, the forward suffered an injury and was set to miss three weeks of action and could feature against the French side.

Mbappe was substituted in Real Madrid’s 3-2 win over Alaves during the injury time after he suffered discomfort and the next day the scans revealed he had picked up a thigh injury. But it seems the former PSG player might have recovered on time.

If the staff decides to give the final go-ahead, Mbappé might play, thus he would be back earlier than expected. However, the team will wait to see if the forward is totally fit for the match rather than take a risk.
