Senegal will look to start fresh from this game after AFCON heartbreak

Despite enjoying great success in the tournament, Senegal were unfortunate to get eliminated from the round of 16 against Ivory Coast in AFCON. Although they were one of the favourites, they ultimately lost on penalties to Ivory Coast after an extra-time tie. Now, Senegal can start over with the qualification process for the World Cup, and they can prepare since they have enough time. They will meet Gabon and Benin during the friendly.

It was disappointing for Gabon to not advance from its group at the African Cup. They finished third behind Mauritania and DR Congo. Since they defeated Kenya and Burundi in the last two qualification rounds for the World Cup, however, they have managed to do well. In their current group position, they are second behind Ivory Coast and could qualify for the World Cup if they continue on this impressive trajectory.
