The centre-back is keen to become the new owner of his former club.

Spanish reports indicate that Sergio Ramos, a former Real Madrid defender, may be crucial to Sevilla FC’s possible sale, although not as a player.

Alternatively, the former Spain international, who recently terminated his contract with CF Monterrey in Mexico, might become an owner or investor in the team, which would drastically change his prospects in Spanish football.

According to local publication MuchoDeporte, Sergio Ramos has already had preliminary discussions with Sevilla, the team where he was developed, to understand the terms of a potential investment, as interest from American investors is apparently waning following a lowered offer.

American bidders lose the race

Antonio Lappi and Fede Quintero led a group of American bidders who seemed to be leading the bidding for Sevilla. There, plans were put together, one of which was the potential return of legendary former sporting director Monchi to the team.

However, they have reduced their offer from €3,400 per share to roughly €2,700 after completing a due diligence investigation. Discussions are alleged to have broken down as a result.

This has made it possible for other investors to start negotiations. At first, it was said that Sergio Ramos wanted to be a minority investor. According to Cadena Cope, the World Cup winner is now in charge of his own group.

He doesn’t currently have any plans to stop playing, so it’s unclear how long he could dedicate himself to Sevilla. The idea is to return to Europe in search of another fresh challenge.

It has been speculated that Sergio Ramos, who has 180 caps and hasn’t played for his country since 2021, is keen to make a comeback before the 2026 World Cup.

In order to establish his value to the Spain coach, Luis de la Fuente, he must find a new club as soon as possible. The current European champions have a wealth of quality at their disposal, and regular playing time is necessary.

Is Ramos going to buy Sevilla?

He could, as he is leading foreign investors with a total of €400 million, buy the club.

Who is the current owner of the club?

Sevillistas de Nervión S. A is the current owner of the club.

Where do they stand in the table?

They are 11th in the LaLiga table.
