The final will be played at Wembley Stadium
Slavko Vincic of Slovenia will play Real Madrid against Borussia Dortmund in the 2023–24 Champions League final at Wembley Stadium on June 1st, according to confirmation from UEFA.
One of UEFA’s most seasoned match officials, the Maribor native has officiated matches in prestigious tournaments like Vincic. He also officiated at Euro 2020 and the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, overseeing the group-stage matches between Argentina and Saudi Arabia and England and Wales.
As Rangers lost to Eintracht Frankfurt on penalties in Seville in the 2021–22 Europa League final, it was the most well-known appointment of his entire career.
Since making his refereeing debut in December 2016, Vincic has officiated over thirty Champions League games, giving him extensive experience officiating matches. This season alone, the 44-year-old has officiated six knockout games in the premier men’s club championship in Europe, including Bayern’s victory over Lazio in the Round of 16 and Atletico Madrid’s loss to Dortmund.
In addition, he has overseen 13 games in the top division of Slovenia and is included in the roster of referees for the forthcoming European Championships, which start in Germany next month.
Compatriots Tomaž Klančnik and Andraž Kovačič will support him at the Wembley final, while Frenchman François Letexier will serve as the fourth official. Nejc Kajtazović has been given the role of VAR, and Massimiliano Irrati and Rade Obrenović will support him.
