South Africa will face Algeria and Andorra in the March international break

In preparation for the FIFA Series international friendlies against Algeria and Andorra later this month, Bafana Bafana manager Hugo Broos has announced his final 23-man roster.

Last week, the Belgian manager revealed the provisional 32-man team for the international friendlies experimental project in Algeria. The competition will take place in 2024 from March 18 to 26.After leading Bafana to a third-place result and a bronze medal in the 2023 AFCON competition held in Ivory Coast last month, this shall be Broos’ first time back with the team.

In the AFCON third-place play-off, Broos’ team defeated DR Congo 6-5 on penalties to win the bronze medal. On Thursday, March 21, 2024, Bafana will take on Andorra at the 19 May 1956 Arena in Annaba. On Tuesday, March 26, 2024, they will play their host nation, Algeria, at the Nelson Mandela Stadium in Algiers.South Africa’s goal is to carry over their performance from the AFCON competition. On Wednesday, March 27, 2024, the broos charges will return home. The 7-year-old coach reduced his initial team to 23 on Monday, March 11, 2024.

Similar to a South African squad that has underperformed for the past 20 years and is not widely seen as a serious competitor in the Ivory Coast, Belgian Broos led Cameroon to an unexpected victory in Gabon, where his team was an outsider for the championship.

Since taking over in 2021, Broos’ tenure with South Africa has been uneven, although he can be proud of a well-earned 2-1 victory at home against World Cup semifinalist Morocco in the qualifications in June and a respectable 1-1 friendly tie with Ivory Coast in October.
