Spain predicted lineup for Italy clash in Euro 2024
The Azzurri defeated La Roja in the semi-finals of Euro 2020.
Reigning Nations League champions Spain are all set to lock horns against the defending champions of Europe Italy at Veltins Arena come Friday. La Roja have a score to settle with the Azzurri who showed them the exit door in the semi-final of the last European championship.
Spain began their 2024 Euros campaign with a statement 3-0 victory over World Cup bronze medalists Croatia. Skipper Alvaro Morata broke the deadlock in the first half before Fabiaz Ruiz and Daniel Carvajal added more goals to wrap up all three points.
Spain are very unlikely to change anything from their winning combination and can continue with the same line-up.
Spain predicted lineup (Formation: 4-3-3)
GK – Unai Simón
Goalkeeper Unai Simon is expected to retain his place in the middle of the sticks. He kept a well-fought clean sheet in the first game and defended everything that Croatia threw at him. Simon has been Spain’s first-choice goalkeeper for quite some time now and is expected to remain at the helm for upcoming matches as well.
RB – Dani Carvajal
Dabi Carvajal is the most experienced man for Spain at the back. He is involved on either end of the pitch and contributes heavily both in attack and defence. Carvajal is quick, alert and very smart with his moves both with or without the ball.
The Real Madrid fullback is constantly making overlapping runs and also comes back to defend in no time. Moreover, he scored a wonderful goal in the last game which speaks volumes about his contributions up front.
CB – Robin Le Normand
The 6’2 tall defender is a beast in the air and has a high success percentage in aerial duels. Winning a ball against him in the air is always a challenge. Robin Le Normand gave a good account of himself in the opening game and is expected to continue with the same rhythm. The 27-year-old defender also maintained a healthy passing accuracy throughout the game.
CB – Nacho Fernandez
Nacho also had a great outing in the game against Croatia as he put up a good show and helped his side keep a clean sheet. He won all of his ground duels and the majority of his aerial duels highlighting the fact he is excellent with his ball recoveries. He also made four crucial clearances and executed a perfectly timed tackle while completing 95% of his passes.

LB – Marc Cucurella
Marc Cucurella showcased a good performance against the Checkered Ones and neutralized all the danger from the opposition’s right wing. He was often seen making bombing runs forward and participating very actively in attacks, causing problems for the opposition. The left-back won the ball cleanly on most occasions and also pulled off two crucial tackles and an important block.
CM – Fabián Ruiz
Fabian Ruiz was Spain’s best man on the pitch in their dominating Euro 2024 opening game win. The left-footed midfielder dribbled past the defenders as if they didn’t exist and scored a wonderful goal all on his own. He also created the first goal for his side, which was executed to perfection by Alvaro Morata, and maintained a passing accuracy of over 90%.
CM – Rodri
Rodri had a decent outing for La Roja in their opening game considering his high standards. He couldn’t play the entire match and had to be substituted in the second half. But, despite that, he was still one of the most influential players in the middle of the park. He is responsible for controlling the tempo and winning the ball in crucial junctures.
CM – Pedri
Pedri is primarily responsible for making things happen on the pitch for Spain. The Barcelona prodigy was in fine touch in the opener and is expected to bring the same energy in the game against Italy. Pedri completed all of his passes while creating the second goal for his side. His connection with the ball at his feet speaks a lot about what he brings to the table.
RW – Lamine Yamal
Yamal showcased that he can deliver performances worthy of a standing ovation even at the highest stage. The FC Barcelona wonder kid enjoyed his time on the pitch and was constantly involved in the thick of things. He created the third goal for his side with a perfectly timed left-footed cross from the right flank. His speed and unpredictable dribbles make him stand out from the rest.
ST – Alvaro Morata
Alvaro Morata will lead the line up front for Spain. The skipper turned on his beast mode in the last game and led his side from the front. He scored the opening goal and pushed Croatia on the back foot.
Morata is the leader of this young Spanish attacking unit and has done very well to guide them so far. He will have a key role to play because he is the most experienced attacker for Spain at this point in time.
LW – Nico Williams
Another interesting young prospect is Nico Williams who is expected to start on the left wing. Nico is a keen dribbler and always has an eye to dribble past the opposition. He completed two dribbles in the last game and is known for his high pressing and playmaking abilities. He is lightning-quick, very versatile and can operate in multiple positions.
