Spain will be playing Brazil and Colombia in March

Spain will face the South American nations of Brazil and Colombia in the March international friendlies. Barcelona youngster Pau Cubarsi has been called up for the first time after his heroic performances in the last few games.

There is definitely reason for celebration at FC Barcelona following their victory against Napoli and advancement to the Round of 16. The team as a whole performed admirably to defeat their opponents that evening, but it was amazing to watch how Xavi trusted certain young players in such a crucial game and how those players responded to the coach’s confidence.

One of the most important players on the field, Pau Cubarsi won the MVP award for this game. Along with Fermin Lopez, who was also quite impressive—he scored the game’s opening goal to put Barcelona ahead—Lamine Yamal was also highly important.

As previously mentioned, Pau Cubarsi’s success opens opportunities for him to join the Spanish national team, and Lamine Yamal is already a part of Luis de la Fuente’s roster.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Fermin Lopez may also be called up to the Spain national team for the two friendlies held prior to the 2024 UEFA European Championship.

Lopez was already on De la Fuente’s radar earlier in the season, but as the midfielder’s star at Barcelona faded, so did his prospects of being called up to the national team. Lopez was still expected to play for the Spain U-21 side.

Nevertheless, Pedri and Frenkie de Jong’s injuries created an opening for him to return to relevance at Barcelona, which he has seized. For Xavi, he has started the last three games and taken part in the previous eight. He managed to get his fifth goal for Barcelona this campaign in an especially strong effort against Napoli in the Round of 16 second leg.
