Wales will face Finland in the Euro 2024 qualifiers

Despite recent injury concerns, Wales‘ skipper Aaron Ramsey is a surprising addition to the Euro 2024 play-offs. Since suffering a knee injury in September, Ramsey, 33, has only made two appearances for Cardiff City, playing 72 minutes overall.

He was predicted to miss the playoffs due to a calf ailment, but he recovered more quickly than anticipated. The 28-man roster for Wales’ semi-final matchup with Finland and potential play-off final has been announced by head coach Rob Page.

Wales will play Finland on Thursday, March 21 at Cardiff City Stadium. Five days later, as well in Cardiff, they might play Poland or Estonia in the final to secure a spot in this summer’s European Championship. After being previously thrown out of the play-offs by Cardiff boss Erol Bulut, Ramsey’s comeback is a huge bonus for Wales. Ramsey missed the final group qualifiers in October and November.

If Daniel James and Ethan Ampadu of Leeds United are chosen to play Finland, they are both going to earn their 50th cap for Wales.

Page has additionally lined up two midfielders who play in Scotland: Dylan Levitt of Hibernian and Rabbi Matondo of Rangers.

When they advance from under-21s duty, Joe Low, Rubin Colwill, and Charlie Savage—the son of former Wales and Manchester United midfielder Robbie—are also selected.Colwill has not been selected since the World Cup of 2022. Page said he thinks the Wales team is in a good spot since players like David Brooks, Kieffer Moore, and Colwill are getting more playing time for their teams.

Injuries sideline Niall Huggins, Joe Morrell, and Tom Bradshaw, and Luton Town captain Tom Lockyer is not playing because he is still recovering from a heart episode he suffered during a Premier League game in December.
