Euro 2024 will have “Albärt” as their mascot in the competition.

Football mascots, which highlight games with a distinct charm and lively energy, have grown to be adored and an essential element of the sport’s culture.

Instead of just being costumed figures, these mascots enhance the matchday experience for fans, especially the younger ones, by enticing them with humorous jokes, endearing interactions and energetic cheers.

Albärt, the teddy bear, will serve as the new mascot for the competition, which will be hosted by Germany in 2024. The German Football Association and UEFA held a vote to select this happy teddy bear.

With 32% of the vote, Albart defeated other candidates who capitalised on the German word for bear, including Barnardo, Barnheart and Herzi von Bar. Albart carries on the legacy of iconic mascots from previous championships, such as Berni, Goaliath, Rabbit, and Kinas.

Albart was first shown to German supporters during a friendly match between Germany and Colombia at the Arena Auf Schalke.

Since then, he has been involved in the community, going to elementary schools in Germany and throughout Europe to interact with young supporters and spread the word about the impending tournament. Albart’s influence is expected to grow as Euro 2024 draws near.

Albart, who is expected to make an appearance on June 14, 2024, the first day of the competition, will be crucial in generating enthusiasm and strengthening relationships with spectators.
