The Portuguese superstar issued a warning before the Cup final
Cristiano Ronaldo made history in the final fixture of Al Nassr’s Saudi Pro League 2023-24 season. The team may have failed to win the title as they finished 14 points behind winners Al Hilal, but the Portuguese phenom did break records.
Before the final game even kicked off, against Al Ittihad, Ronaldo was two goals behind to break the highest goal-scoring record in a single league season. Abderrazak Hamdallah’s 2018-19 season saw a tally of 34 goals.
In a twist of fate, the Moroccan happened to be contracted with Al Ittihad. Ronaldo ended up scoring a brace of goals helping his side win 4-2. Finally, the 34-goal season record was broken with 35 goals from the Portugal national football team captain.
As Ronaldo ended up winning the SPL Golden Boot, he found his name on another record – the first-ever player to finish top scorer in four different countries. This includes winning the Golden Boot award wins while in England (Manchester United), Spain (Real Madrid) and Italy (Juventus), on top of the current one in Saudi Arabia.
But the season is not over yet, both Ronaldo and Al Nassr who are trophyless so far in 2023-24 can win the King Cup. With the final being against Al Hilal, this gives them a chance to get even with the league champions as they were the reason for the Saudi Super Cup final defeat of the Knights of Najd.

The final will be held at the King Abdullah Sports City stadium tomorrow. Will Cristiano Ronaldo play? Seems more than likely. The 39-year-old hasn’t been pleased with the state of refereeing that goes into the games of Al Hilal. For this, in the post-match win over Al Ittihad, his message was, “We finished the league well and now it’s time to win the King’s Cup. What I can hope is that the team can play well, that it can be a final well played and that it is fair. That’s what I ask the most.”
After Cristiano Ronaldo and Al Nassr handle the league winners in the King Cup final, the former is set to join his national side, Portugal. Portugal have three friendlies coming up and later they will shift focus to the Euro 2024 to be held in Germany next month.
