The Herons will face the Liga MX side in the quarter-final of the Leagues Cup tonight.

A tantalising matchup between Inter Miami and Tigres UANL will kick off the 2025 Leagues Cup knockout stages.

In MLS, Miami easily defeated LA Galaxy (3-1) over the weekend. If they win their next three games, they might jump to the top of the Eastern Conference standings. As the season draws to a close, Javier Mascherano’s team are starting to settle into their groove.

Lionel Messi of Inter Miami made a comeback from an injury against the Galaxy. Mascherano decided not to start the Argentine captain and instead used him as a substitute in the second half.

But it remains to be seen whether the Argentine forward will play in the Leagues Cup quarter-final against Tigres UANL, to help the Herons cruise to the semi-final of the tournament.

Inter Miami’s aspirations can be severely hampered by Lionel Messi’s latest injury status as they get ready to play Tigres in the crucial Leagues Cup quarterfinal tonight.

The Argentine superstar is still doubtful for this important matchup against the Mexican team because he just recovered from a right leg muscle ailment.

Concerns regarding Messi’s preparedness for the forthcoming Tigres match were rekindled by his obvious discomfort when he left the field following LA Galaxy‘s game.

Messi missed a crucial training session on August 19, which increased suspicions before the big game. In a frank admission of the uncertainty, coach Mascherano stated that Messi is neither confirmed nor ruled out for the game and that the decision will be made based on daily evaluations, taking things “day by day.”
