The list doesn’t even feature the great Lionel Messi
FC Barcelona have had an ongoing tradition of letting young players take the pitch for their senior team. The club has been in existence since 1899 and continues to be one of the most sought-after destinations for rising youngsters in football.
A lot has changed in recent years for the Spanish side, particularly after losing their icon Lionel Messi, who had left them back in the summer of 2021. Still, the club has tried to compete on various fronts and is trying to kinda rebuild its world-class image in the world of football. Nevertheless, the tradition of allowing youngsters to take the field is still on. Just this past Sunday, Lamine Yamal breached the top spot for the youngest player ever to make 50 appearances for Blaugrana.
3. Pedri (18 years, 5 months and 13 days)
The current holder of the number 8 jersey has been a phenomenal signing overall. He was signed back in September 2019 only to be loaned back to parent club UD Las Palmas for a season. Later after moving in permanently by the end of July 2020, Pedri immersed himself completely into the colours of Barcelona.
In just a year, Pedri edged past Messi in the list of the youngest 50 appearance makers for the club. The special news of the 50th appearance came against one of the toughest LaLiga opposition Atlético Madrid.

Bojan Krkic was often compared to Messi during his time in Barcelona. The player was very talented but chose to retire at the rather young age of 32 later on. Krkic was just 18 years and 3 days old when he overtook Messi to become the youngest-ever Barca player to make 50-odd appearances at that time.
It was actually back in August 2008. Now the former player functions as a Football Coordinator Area for the club and we often see glimpses of him following his passion for riding cycles on social media.
1. Lamine Yamal (16 years, 10 months and 6 days)
The record of Bojan Krkić stood true for quite a good number of years. It took almost 16 years for any upcoming talent at the club to beat that record. Finally, there’s a certain teenager who has changed the name on the history books.
Lamine Yamal, just this Sunday, made his 50th appearance for Barcelona. It was against Rayo Vallecano. The most interesting part is, he is still a 16-year-old boy.
