Injuries have plagued both teams ahead of this Group D encounter.

It was a major blow for Poland when their skipper Robert Lewandowski was injured during preparation, but they still have the qualities to challenge the Dutch team. Poland will face the Netherlands in their Group D opener.

This will be crucial for their chances of making the next round as they will face Austria and France in the next two matches. A terrible match can sink the ship here. Nevertheless, their recent form suggests they are ready for the fight.

The Netherlands secured an emphatic win in the last match over Iceland to end their final preparation on a positive note. They secured a 4-0 win in both friendly matches over Canada and Iceland to arrive with a favourites tag in the competition.

The Netherlands are drawn alongside Poland, France and Austria. There is no doubt that these three sides are among the strongest in the competition. It is probably the group of death this year with any team able to cause a surprise by pulling an impressive win.

Kick-Off:

Sunday, 16 June at 6:30 PM IST

Location- Volksparkstadion

Form:

Poland (in all competitions): W-W-D-W-W

Netherlands (in all competitions): W-W-L-W-W

Player to Watch

Piotr Zieliński (Poland)

With Lewandowski ruled out due to injury, Piotr Zieliński will lead the team against the Dutch team led by Virgil van Dijk. Zieliński is a threat from midfield as he can easily drive the ball at his feet while dribbling past opponents.

He also brings experience to the side after playing for them in 90 matches since his breakthrough in 2013. Zieliński will be a key player in this match as he can prove to be a difference-maker for the team.

Memphis Depay (Netherlands)

Memphis Depay became the top scorer for the Netherlands after scoring a goal against Canada in friendly match. He overtook Robin van Persie on the all-time top scorer list. Depay is not a traditional number nine but does the job efficiently as he has mostly played in this position for the Dutch team. Now he will lead the line for the team to continue their stride in the competition.

Match Facts
