With the Australian GP quickly approaching, the excitement surrounding the 2024 Formula One season is growing. Melbourne’s Albert Park Circuit, the site of the third race on the schedule, is expected to provide thrilling action and fierce competitiveness.
Following the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Grand Prix as the season’s opening races, the Melbourne race is scheduled third on the 2024 f1 calendar.
However, in 2025, the Australian Grand Prix is returning to its traditional opening position in the season.
In this thrilling event, it’s all about the battle between the top teams like Red Bull and Mercedes. But let’s not forget about our local legends, Daniel Ricciardo and Oscar Piastri, who are gearing up to show the world what they’re made of right here on their home turf.
Australian GP 2024: Preview
First and foremost, the Red Bull team will be the centre of attention as they negotiate an uproar of political drama. Their dominance on the circuit is further intensified by reports of concerns filed with the FIA. Red Bull will undoubtedly be a force to be reckoned with over the weekend, especially with tensions running high.
Mercedes, on the other hand, is in a difficult situation as they try to believe in their vehicle. The team has a difficult challenge ahead of them as they try to get past their performance problems and leave their imprint in Melbourne.
A major plot point in the run-up to the race is Carlos Sainz’s possible comeback to the Scuderia Ferrari team. Ferrari must choose between sticking with rookie Oliver Bearman and bringing back Sainz after the latter had to withdraw from the previous race owing to medical issues. The decision’s conclusion will surely affect the team’s tactics and on-track dynamics.
And let’s not forget about our local heroes, Oscar Piastri and Daniel Ricciardo. Piastri, who’s from Melbourne, is hoping to do well in front of his home crowd. Predictions for the Australian GP 2024
3. Charles Leclerc
Ferrari has been the closest challenger to Red Bull so far this season. Charles Leclerc has shown a strong performance, with him finishing P3 in Jeddah. If Ferrari can maintain their momentum, they could be in contention for another podium finish.
As Leclerc noted, it’s clear that Ferrari’s SF-24 has progressed dramatically from the previous year. Still, he also said that the race was a little “boring” because of Max Verstappen’s sizable lead.
2. Sergio Perez
In the early races of the Formula One season, Red Bull Racing has been unstoppable, especially with Sergio Pérez leading the charge. Pérez’s win at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix showed just how strong Red Bull is. Despite some tough competition, Pérez drove brilliantly to secure victory. Now, Pérez is looking like a serious contender for the championship title.
Red Bull’s team principal, Christian Horner, also praised Pérez for his stellar race at the Saudi Arabian GP. With a car that is unmatched in speed and precision, Red Bull has established itself as the team to beat.
1. Max Verstappen
At the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, Max Verstappen put on yet another outstanding display of his supremacy in Formula 1. Red Bull finished in second place for the second straight season in 2024 thanks to his strong drive, which also represented his 56th career victory.
In addition to matching Sebastian Vettel’s record of nine consecutive victories, Verstappen’s outstanding performance at the difficult Jeddah street circuit emphasized Red Bull’s strong position in the title race.
All eyes will be on Verstappen to see whether he can continue his winning streak and establish himself as the clear favourite in the title battle as the season goes on.
