Recent rumours about Adrian Newey suggest that he may be bidding farewell to the Red Bull squad soon
Adrian Newey is the revered technical genius behind the dominant force in F1, Red Bull. At 65, Newey has been a significant member in boosting the team’s dominating performance over the years, particularly in the current era of cars.
However, it isn’t something new as the team has been engulfed in controversies for a while now. From Horner’s investigation to Max Verstappen’s planning to give up his seat because of the recent management conflicts within the team.
The internal strife within the team has prompted Newey to consider different horizons in the F1 industry.
Who is Adrian Newey?
Red Bull Racing has been centred around Newey, but his time with the team might eventually come to an end.
Newey won five Constructors’ titles in collaboration with Patrick Head. He also built the equipment that helped drivers’ championship winners Nigel Mansell, Alain Prost, Damon Hill, and Jacques Villeneuve win. He ended the decade with the 1998 Constructors’ title and two Drivers’ titles for Mika Häkkinen at McLaren after leaving Williams at the end of 1996.
Adrian Newey joined Red Bull in 2006 with the aim of bringing the team closer to the title. Over the next three years, an aggressive development program resulted in season-by-season gains in competitiveness and podium results.
But the design genius finally got the chance he had been waiting for during the 2009 season.

It is no secret that Newey played a critical role in turning the highly talented Red Bull into the unstoppable force they are today.
This is also a major factor in his ability to command a reported $10 million price tag for his F1 efforts and the freedom to pursue side projects like the RB17 hypercar, which some reports have suggested he is actually unhappy that Christian Horner has assigned him to focus on.
Speculations surrounding Newey’s future
On Thursday, several publications reported that Adrian Newey is expected to part ways with Red Bull and sign a new contract with another team. Newey’s departure is still unknown and no official statement has been made as he is signed till the end of 2025.
Newey reportedly has become dissatisfied with Red Bull’s internal politics after the company’s internal investigation into team principal Christian Horner. This resulted in power struggle between various senior members of the management and the organisation.
However, Newey’s presence and employment with Red Bull at the Miami Grand Prix indicates that this break hasn’t yet started.
The designer was present at the Japanese Grand Prix as well, though he stayed home for the Australian and Chinese Grand Prix.
In a recent interview with RacingNews365, Newey hinted that he would be content to go on working with Red Bull, although he did not explicitly say that Milton Keynes will always be his home.
He stated, “I think as long as I continue to enjoy it and the team wants me then I’ll continue to do it for the moment and then we’ll have to see in the future.”
“I don’t tend to plan too far forward.”
