Guard

The first thing you need to learn is guard. You must become good at guarding and get used to timings, vanishes by holding R1 and then using the analog stick left and right which is the key to the defense. You won’t become good instantly, however, it will become your habit naturally and will help you a lot in the game.

Counter

The next important thing in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero is the counter. Timings are most important when it comes to countering by pressing a circle. Make sure to not be obvious and experiment with your counters and pay attention to the timings.
