Will it change the Meta?
According to the latest leaks, we are finally getting a Fortnite Glider release feature, which might change the balance of the game at the start.
Wenso leaked this information on May 10, 2025 and it appears that it will be arriving pretty soon. The feature will let the players cut the gliders early to land faster.
Let’s check out more details about this new feature, leaked information and more in this article.
Know more about the Fortnite Glider release
Glider Releasing allows players to disconnect their glider from the Battle Bus in mid-descent, allowing for a faster drop to the ground.
Currently, Fortnite compels players to glide until they reach the surface, which reduces fall damage but slows landings.
The latest leaks suggest that the player will be able to control their drop speed, hitting the ground in seconds.
You may cut your glider early in order to drop on the ground faster, but you might have to pay attention on the fall damage as well.
Cutting too early or from too high might take out your health or even knock you out right from the start of the match.
Now, fans have been begging for this feature since 2017, according to Insider Gaming. Glider Releasing potentially transforms early-game strategy, allowing players to collect loot or fight foes more quickly.
According to X user @misterNgan, landing in water can prevent fall damage and provide a faster start.
However, Wenso warns against potential exploits, such as descending from maximum height to outpace opponents, which could lead to balance concerns.
Do note: Nothing has been confirmed by Epic Games yet and this information is based on leaks for now.

Potential abuse & new strategies
Fortnite Glider release feature might introduce some new strategies at the drop location. The faster you land, the more benefit you will have.
It won’t be wrong to say that this feature would be abused from day one. Everyone will also like to see and test the fall damage from the different heights, as well as make some new strategies.
