Need some changes as soon as possible
There is no doubt that things have been very difficult in the gaming industry. The games aren’t the same as they used to be in the past and management getting worse day by day. Gamers and fans have already seen many massive layoffs, game flops, and skyrocketing development budgets recently.
According to a recent report by Jason Schreier of Bloomberg, the root cause of these issues isn’t the game design or technology but poor management. Let’s check out more details in this article.
Poor management problems in gaming industry
Management techniques have come under fire as the fundamental reason why games are not only becoming more expensive but also potentially worse.
Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier noted how inefficient workflows, last-minute adjustments by executives, and the pursuit of popular game types such as live services all add to millions of dollars in wasted resources.

Inefficiency in the Studio
Many developers have noted that sometimes the staff members will spend significant time idle, sometimes up to half a year, doing little more than watching Netflix. There is very inefficiency among the teams and poor coordination with artists waiting on designers, and developers are delayed by incomplete tools.
Financial Waste
There are many times when some teams with no work who are waiting for others to complete the project first will still get paid. This significantly inflated the budget for game development and that’s why most games nowadays cost a lot of money for development.
Executive Overreach
This might be the worst thing that might be happening right now. Last-minute changes and decisions made at the executive level only disrupt the development process. Of course, if there is a huge mistake or something serious like a bug that needs to be fixed, that would be understandable. But disrupting this process just for the personal whims and likes would be a disaster and we all know how it goes for them after the release.
The push towards live service games, seen as a lucrative model, has backfired for some studios. Converting the storytelling and AAA games into live service just to earn more money is a poor decision. We already have two prime examples Concord and Suicide Squad. There is no need to force a great single-player story-based game into an online multiplayer game.
Gamers and fans love storytelling and there are so many examples of this. If you really want to make a multiplayer game, then make a completely new one instead. What are your thoughts on this? Do let us know in the comment section.
