Sucker Punch masterpiece is on track!
After delivering a masterpiece of Japanese tale, Sucker Punch is back with a sequel, Ghost of Yotei and with the official website confirmation, new details are out about the game.
The game is still set to release in 2025 with PS5 Pro support, a new storyline, weapons and more. Let’s check out more details in this article.
Ghost of Yotei: Atsu’s revenge
The official website for Ghost of Yotei and PlayStation has once again reconfirmed that the game will be releasing in 2025 and there are no plans for any delay.
I am pretty happy with this, as I was having some doubts that this might get delayed to 2026. More information about the game has been dropped as well.
Ghost of Yotei, set 300 years after Jin Sakai’s story, transports you to 1603 Hokkaido as Atsu, a new Ghost who rises from her family’s ashes. The revised PlayStation page exposes her motivation: to find those who burned down her homestead and slaughtered her family.
She’s a bounty hunter and odd-jobber, squeaking by on cash and vengeance. But here’s the twist: Sucker Punch says how she battles, survives, and shapes the Ghost mythology is “up to you.”
It appears that this time, the open-world exploration will be more epic, with fresh spin and content instead of repetition. Going stealth assassin or playing like a proud samurai will be in our hands.

New weapons and PS5 Pro power
The gameplay is also receiving an upgrade. Dual katanas are back—because who doesn’t enjoy chopping with style?—However, Ghost of Yotei includes “new mechanics” and “gameplay improvements.”
What’s the major news? New weapon types include the ōdachi (a powerful longsword) and kusarigama (a chain-sickle combination). Think bigger swings and trickier combos—Atsu’s arsenal exudes variety. @PlayStationUK tweets, “Kusarigama’s gonna shred!”
There is no definite release date yet—only “2025”—but it has been announced for the PS5 and PS5 Pro. On the Pro, expect “enhanced performance and visuals”—think 4K at smoother frame rates, taking advantage of the November 2024 hardware increase.
