Not remaster, but a spin-off game?

Since the past few months, there have been many leaks and rumors that involve the God of War Greek remaster and maybe it can be revealed on 20th anniversary. However, nothing has been announced yet so far.

Now the new leaks and some solid reports from the Insider reveal that the fans might be getting a God of War Greek Spin-Off this year. Let’s check out more details in this article.

A Greek Spin-Off in 2025?

On March 22, 2025, Sony celebrated God of War’s 20th anniversary with a few Ragnarok skins and a video, but no major remaster revelation.

Whispers of a refined God of War 1-3 compilation began in late 2024, but Grubb’s recent scoop on Bluesky puts it to rest: “No remasters are in the works, but a Greek God of War side story is coming this year.”

It’s a departure from the AAA Norse epics (2018 and Ragnarok), aiming for a leaner, more budget-friendly feel—think Uncharted: Lost Legacy over a full-fledged sequel.

Grubb’s sources and his latest information have once again ignited the community and fans. Fans were already hyped for the remaster version but now with a spin-off of the Greek Saga, this might be the best thing.

What’s this God of War Greek Spin-Off About?

There is no more solid information that has been provided for the God of War Greek Spin-Off. Grubb refers to it as a “side story,” implying a more focused scope—perhaps 15-20 hours of heavenly mayhem.

Could it connect God of War 3 (2010), where Kratos dethroned Zeus, with God of War 2018, when he washed up in Midgard? A 2018 prequel comic promised his post-Greece adventures—lost family, terrible survival—creating an ideal game-sized gap. Consider Kratos facing leftover Greek titans or mortals-turned-myths before his Norse rebirth.

Personally, I still think that these rumors are still rumors and Grubb sources are usually not true all the time. Many fans also consider him not that much trustworthy when it comes to leaks related to Sony. So, take this information with a grain of salt for now.
