GTA 6 makes the cut just in time
According to the official FAQs section on The Game Awards website, the games must be commercially available to players on or before Friday, November 20, 2026, at 9 PSM PT.
GTA VI is launching on November 19, 2026, worldwide for PS5 and XBOX Series X/S. This means that the game is clearly eligible to meet the requirements.
Strongest competitor for The Game Awards 2026
Do remember that eligibility does not mean a guaranteed nomination. However, there is no doubt that the game is going to get nominated for almost every category.
It won’t be a surprise that we might see another sweep like Clair Obscur from the previous Game Awards 2026. Hopefully, the game won’t be like Cyberpunk 2077 at release, or you can forget even the nomination.
Rockstar Games has delayed the game two times to make sure that the game will be smooth and playable on the launch day. They don’t want to ruin anything just by rushing the game to release it early.
Conclusion
It is also expected that the review copies will be sent out by the end of October 2026. The hype for GTA 6 is on a whole other level and now the game is also eligible for The Game Awards 2026.
