Konami is all ready to shake up the horror genre with the upcoming title, Silent Hill f, which is a standalone survival horror story in the franchise.
Unlike previous titles, where the story was connected, this new title is “completely new” and welcomes both newcomers and longtime fans.
Fresh take on Silent Hill
In a recent tweet by the Silent Hill and Konami official page on X, they specifically clarified that Silent Hill f is a standalone title and is not connected to previous games.
Don’t expect to see James Sunderland or Heather Mason. Instead, NeoBards’ game features a frightening new setting: Ebisugaoka, 1960s Japan.
This fog-draped village, revealed in a breathtaking March 2024 video, combines the series’ ominous ambiance with a colorful, culturally diverse backdrop, representing a striking departure from the franchise’s customary locales.
Silent Hill f will retain the series’ signature otherworld horrors but with a fresh twist. Creative director Al Yang described creating a new Otherworld as a “big challenge,” to balance nostalgia and creativity.
Key locales such as The Dark Shrine elicit a sense of veneration tinged with malice, offering a psychologically complex encounter.

Thoughts
I really like this decision from Konami, as this title is not just for die-hard fans or veterans, but even new players like me will be able to play this without worrying about the story.
I have never played a Silent Hill title on console; I have only watched some playthroughs. After watching the trailer for Silent Hill f, I am pretty excited to play this game.
My assessment from the trailer is that this time, Silent Hill f feels more scary and disturbing than any other Silent Hill game that I have watched.
Even Konami has stated that this game includes explicit, disturbing content and will push the boundaries of the survival horror genre.
The game will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC and is releasing on September 25, 2025.
