Marvel Rivals Season 2: Release date, new hero, new map, changes & more

The hype for the Marvel Rivals Season 2 has increased a lot with NetEase finally releasing the official trailer and information. Season 2 will launch on April 11, 2025, with a Hellfire Gala theme.
This season we will get two heroes with first one releasing at the start of the 2nd season for free who is Emma Frost. (Tank) In season 2.5, we will get Ultron, who will be a Strategist. Let’s check out more details in this article.
New Heroes: Emma Frost and Ultron
Season 2 is going to kick off on April 11, 2025, with Emma Frost, a Vanguard hero who blends telepathic powers with a diamond-hard form to shield allies and crush enemies.
We will also be receiving a new Hellfire Gala: Krakoa map. Ultron, a Strategist, will arrive in season 2.5 and is expected to have his drones deal damage and heal allies. For now, Emma Frost has kind of broken the internet and you can see from the trailer itself. It appears that the devs have gone all out when it comes to her character design.
Fans would be able to see her in action today at 2 to 4 pm PT on the livestream where popular streamers like Necros, TimTheTatman, Ninja and more will be streaming the season 2 demo server.

Team-Up abilities changes
Most of the team-up abilities are getting reworked while many new team-ups have also been added in the Marvel Rivals season 2.
- Emma Frost partners up with Psylocke and Magneto to create phantom clones for offense or distraction.
- Arcane Order: Doctor Strange and Scarlet Witch team up for a rapid-fire, long-range strike that does not deplete energy.
- Stars Aligned: Captain America and Winter Soldier use a shockwave pounce to deal damage and debuff foes.
Removed Team-Ups include:
- Metallic Chaos (Scarlet Witch and Magneto)
- Voltaic Union: Storm, Captain America, Thor
- Chilling charisma (Namor, Luna Snow, and Jeff the Land Shark)
Psylocke is no longer in Dimensional Shortcut, Winter Soldier is no longer in Ammo Overload, and Namor has replaced Doctor Strange in Gamma Charge. More information could be read on the official Marvel Rivals website.
Hero Balance Changes
Many heroes will be getting buffs and nerfs this season.
- Buffs: Peni Parker, Scarlet Witch, Mister Fantastic, Black Widow, Rocket Raccoon, Jeff the Land Shark, Captain America, Winter Soldier, and Moon Knight will gain power or improved Team-Up synergy.
- Doctor Strange receives an attack nerf but a health buff for increased survival.
- Nerfs: Loki and Adam Warlock’s area-of-effect healing abilities are being reduced.

New Features
Popular skins like Psylocke’s Vengeance and Luna Snow’s Mirae 2099 are going to have color variants. A new costume gifting feature is also going to be added in Marvel Rivals Season 2. New skins for many heroes are arriving along with the new map and Battle Pass.
Missions Season 2 includes weekly, daily, and challenge tasks. While the total number of Chrono Tokens for Battle Pass progression will not increase, they will be redistributed across all mission categories for a more efficient grind.
- Rank Reset: At the start of Season 2, all players will drop nine tiers (for example, from Diamond 1 to Silver 1).
- Hellfire Gala: Krakoa has joined the competitive pool, replacing Yggsgard: Royal Palace and Tokyo 2099: Shin-Shibuya.
- Entry Requirements: The minimum level for competitive play is increased from 10 to 15, and hero pick/ban begins at Gold 3.
- Queue restrictions: Eternity and One Above. All players can only queue in duos or solos; no larger groups are allowed.
- Individual performance will now be more highly weighed in rank points, allowing skilled players to ascend faster while potentially encouraging stat-farming.
