Copyright troubles
Just when the game was doing exceptionally well on Steam, Schedule 1 is now under investigation for alleged IP copyright infringement. This drug dealing simulator is developed by Australian solo dev Tyler of TVGS and now it might be in a lot of trouble.
The copyright claim is from the publisher behind Drug Dealer Simulator 1 and 2. Let’s check out more details in this article.
Schedule 1 is now facing legal troubles
Since its launch on March 24, 2025, Schedule 1 has taken the gaming world by storm on Steam. It has peaked at over 400,000 concurrent players and earned an “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating from nearly 39,000 reviews.
Do remember that most of the gamers were still playing Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Monster Hunter Wilds and it still performed so well during those days.
However, this addicting drug-dealing simulation game has finally faced a roadblock. On April 3, 2025, Movie Games S.A. started its investigation against TVGS.
According to a document found on papbiznes titled “MOVIE GAMES SA (17/2025),” the publisher accuses this game of infringing on its intellectual property and engaging in unfair competition.
Movie Games, famed for its own drug-dealing series Drug Dealer Simulator 1 and 2, says that Schedule 1 is too similar to its products, repeating high-profile gaming lawsuits such as Nintendo‘s against Palworld.
The investigation focuses on some key areas. Here’s a list of some of those:
- Plot Elements: Movie Games claims that the plot of Schedule 1 is too similar to their own games.
- Gameplay Mechanics: Specific mechanics, such as drug production and distribution, are under investigation.
- User Interface (UI): The UI design is also being investigated for suspected plagiarism.
According to a legal document, “Potential infringement of the Issuer’s intellectual property rights and activities that may bear the characteristics of unfair competition have been identified.”
So far, the game is still playable on Steam and Tyler has shown his efforts by dropping the new patch notes and updates for the game. For now, we have to wait and see how the story develops with copyright infringement involvement. Make sure to follow us, as we will keep you guys updated with all the latest news and updates regarding Schedule 1.
