New buffer
Playing rank matches and demoting to lower ranks because of the bad games might be really depressing VALORANT. This goes same for all the competitive games out there in the market.
Riot Games has rolled out a 10.01 patch notes where they have introduced a Ranked Shield system that will protect your rank. This system is already live and let’s check out more details in this article.
Understanding the Ranked Shield in VALORANT
This Ranked Shield is an exclusive feature in the game that will prevent players from losing rank due to a single bad performance.
- Availability: When a player reaches the first tier of any level other than Radiant (e.g., Silver I, Gold I, Platinum I), they earn two Ranked Shields.
- Mechanics: If you lose a game with 0 RR (Rank Rating), you will lose one shield. If you lose another game with 0 RR, the second shield will be consumed. Losing at 0 RR will result in a rank downgrade once both shields have been exhausted.
- Limitations: These shields only work on the first tier of each rank. For example, as you go from Gold 1 to Gold 2, you lose the shields’ protection.
