CD Projekt Red targeting 2028 release
Although the game won’t be appearing at Gamescom 2026, the developers have reassured the fans that the development is progressing smoothly.
According to Michał Nowakowski, the studio is aiming to release the game sometime in 2028. For now, the exact release date is still not revealed, but this is the first time the studio has provided a release timeline for the game.
“Let the team cook. It will be worth the wait,” Nowakowski said while discussing the game’s development.
The developers have also said to wait patiently and the wait will be worthwhile for the fans.
Most ambitious Witcher game ever
The Witcher 4 entered full production in 2024 and the studio has described this game as the studio’s most ambitious project ever.
This will also start a new saga in the game with Ciri as a protagonist following Geralt’s story in Witcher 3.
Players can expect a much larger and immersive open world, improved visuals, deeper exploration, and more dynamic gameplay system in The Witcher 4.
The Witcher 3 DLC
Although there is a lot of time for The Witcher 4, for now the fans can set their eyes on the upcoming Witcher 3: Songs of the Past DLC, which is all set to release in 2027.
CD Projekt Red will also reveal the first official look and gameplay of the DLC at the Gamescom 2026 Opening Night Live event.
