The inaugural edition of this format will be played in Muscat, Oman

The Men’s FIH Hockey5s World Cup 2024 will commence from January 28 to 31 in Muscat, Oman just after the Women’s World Cup concludes. This will be the inaugural edition of this format. Hockey5s is a hockey variant which features five players in each team. The field of play is 55 m long and 41.70 m wide. The Hockey 5s format made its debut in the 2014 Youth Olympic Games. The match will be played in two halves of 15 minutes each. The goal of this format is to make hockey more popular among non-hockey playing nations. It makes the game faster.

Men’s FIH Hockey5s World Cup 2024 will take place in Muscat, Oman from January 28 to 31.

Groups and Format

The Men’s FIH Hockey5s World Cup 2024 have 16 teams divided into four groups. Each team will play one match each against the other three teams in their respective groups. The top two from each group will qualify for the quarterfinals.

India are in Group B and with Egypt, Switzerland, Jamaica and will start their campaign against Switzerland on 28 January 2024.

Three teams from five continents have qualified after coming in the continental 5s championships and Oman got the place as a host nation.
