The Indian men’s hockey team had a historic campaign at the Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, winning gold by defeating Malaysia 5-1 in the final on October 3.

Indian team produced a commanding performance against Malaysia in the gold medal clash at the Gifu Prefectural Green Stadium in Kakamigahara. Captain Harmanpreet Singh led from the front, scoring twice. Jugraj Singh, Hardik Singh, and Shilanand Lakra also found the back of the net.
The Indian captain put up a magnificent performance; he scored 12 goals—tying with Pakistan’s Sufyan Khan—to become the tournament’s joint top goal scorer.
Beyond a remarkable team achievement, the gold medal also added another milestone to Harmanpreet’s illustrious career.
