Indian hockey captain Harmanpreet Singh welcomes second daughter

Indian men’s hockey team captain Harmanpreet Singh has been blessed with a baby girl, his second child. The 30-year-old welcomed the newest member of his family this week, with congratulatory messages coming in from teammates and the hockey fraternity.
“Welcome Our Second Little Princess. Twice the love, twice the joy, Another blessing, our precious baby girl,” Harmanpreet Singh’s Instagram post read.
Harmanpreet missed the Hobart leg of the Men’s FIH Pro League after opting out of the tour to be with his family for the birth. The captain informed the team management in advance and was unavailable for selection for the Australia leg of the tournament.
This is Harmanpreet’s second daughter. His first child, Ruhanat Kaur, was born in mid-2023. He is married to Amandeep Kaur, and the couple has now welcomed their second daughter.
Harmanpreet is expected to rejoin the team after the Hobart leg and resume captaincy duties as India continues their Men’s FIH Pro League 2025–26 campaign.

How did Indian hockey team fare in Hobart leg matches?
The Indian men’s hockey team began their Hobart leg of the Men’s FIH Pro League 2025-26 with a 0-2 loss against Spain. They took on hosts Australia in the second match of the leg but ended up losing on penalties. The full-time score ended in a 2-2 draw.
Amit Rohidas (15′) and Jugraj Singh (43′) scored a goal each for the Men in Blue. However, a brace from Joel Rintala (47′ & 56′) helped Australia level the scores. The hosts won the match 5-4 on penalties, leaving India with two losses.
Team India played out a 1-1 draw against Spain before losing on penalties in the third match of the Hobart leg. Maninder Singh opened the scoring for India in the 19th minute, while Bruno Font Abad found the back of the net in the dying minutes of the game to equalize. With Abhishek Nain and Hardik Singh missing their respective penalties, India lost the game 4-3.
In the last match of the leg, India defeated Australia 3-1 on penalties after the full-time score ended as 1-1. Jeremy Thomas Hayward scored a goal in the 49th minute for the hosts, while Shilanand Lakra scored a goal in the 51st minute.
India are currently placed eighth in the points table with four points from eight matches, including one win on penalties, two losses on penalties, and five losses. They have a goal difference of -16, having found the back of the net nine times and conceded 25 goals.
