Men's Hockey India League 2024-25: Updated schedule, fixtures, results, live streaming details

Delhi SG Pipers will face Team Gonasika in the opening match of Hockey India League 2024-25.
The Hockey India League is back after seven years and while the men’s tournament will return with a revamped format, there is also a women’s tournament this time and will run parallelly with the men’s team. The league was originally founded in 2013 but was scrapped after 2017.
The 2024-25 edition of the Men’s Hockey India League will kick off on 28th December and end on February 1, 2025. The tournament will be held in two different venues—Birsa Munda International Hockey Stadium in Rourkela and the Jaipal Singh Stadium in Ranchi. The majority of the matches for the men’s tournament will be held in Rourkela.

When and where will men’s Hockey India League take place (Venue)?
The men’s Hockey India League will kick off on December 28 and will end on February 1, 2025, at the Birsa Munda International Hockey Stadium, Rourkela and the Jaipal Singh Stadium, Ranchi.
History of Hockey India League
Ranchi Rhinos won the inaugural season of the previous HIL after defeating Delhi Waveriders (2-1) in the finals. Delhi Waveriders won the second season after a heartbreak in the first season. They defeated Punjab Waveriders [3(3)-3(1)] in the shootout. The third season was won by Ranchi Rays where they defeated Punjab Warriors [2(3)-2(2)] in the shootout.
After losing two consecutive finals in the shootout, Punjab Warriors finally won the title in their third consecutive final. The fifth season was won by the Kalinga Lancers defeating Dabang Mumbai (4-1) in the finals.

There are eight teams in the sixth season of the Hockey India League. The names of the teams are:

- Rarh Bengal Tigers (Shrachi Sports)
- Soorma Hockey Club (JSW Group)
- Tamil Nadu Dragons (Charles Group)
- UP Rudras (JK Cement)
- Team Gonasika (Tarini Prasad Mohanty)
What is the tournament format of Hockey India League?
The men’s Hockey India League will be played in two phases. The first phase will be held from 28th December to January 18. In this phase, all the eight teams will play against each other once. The second phase will start from January 19.
In this phase, the teams are divided into two groups and each team will play each other of their group once. The top four teams will qualify for the knockouts, which will be played from January 31.
Group A: Delhi SG Pipers, Rarh Bengal Tigers, Soorma Hockey Club, Kalinga Lancers
Group B: Team Gonasika, Hyderabad Toofans, Tamil Nadu Dragons, UP Rudras
Hockey India League full squads
Teams have a maximum of 24 players, which include 16 Indian and eight foreign players. Each team will also have four Junior (U21 or below) players. The playing XI combination is seven Indians and four foreigners. Full squad of all teams here

The live telecast of the men’s Hockey India League will be on DD Sports. Sony Sports Network has also taken the broadcasting rights of the league. So, Sony Sports 1,3 and 4 will also broadcast the matches. Fans can watch the live streaming on the Sony Liv app.
