How can the Indian women’s hockey team avoid relegation to Women’s FIH Nations Cup?
The Indian women’s hockey team are currently on the brink of relegation from the Women’s FIH Pro League. Germany are placed above them in the standings with 10 points from 11 matches, including two wins and six losses. They have drawn three games, taking bonus points in one match.
Meanwhile, England are at the bottom of the points standings with eight points from 13 encounters, having won a couple of matches and lost 10. They have a poor goal difference of -26, having scored 13 goals and conceded 39.
- India need to hope that England lose their remaining three matches (one against Spain and two against Germany) to avoid relegation to the Women’s FIH Nations League.
- If England manage to win at least one out of three games, the Indian women’s hockey team will have to secure at least one draw to finish on equal points. However, they are likely to escape relegation due to a better goal difference.
- If England wins two or all three matches, India will have to bag one win and a draw or two wins and a draw to ensure they stay in the Women’s FIH Pro League next season.
