Lalremsiami and Lalthantluangi were part of the gold-winning Indian women’s hockey team.
The Indian women’s hockey team made history at the Asian Games 2026, ending a 44-year wait for a gold medal in this tournament. The women’s team secured a hard-fought 1-0 win against China in the final to win gold at the Aichi-Nagoya Games.
It marked India’s first women’s hockey gold at the tournament in 44 years. At the 1982 edition, they defeated Singapore 3-0 in the final, securing their first-ever Asiad women’s gold. The win at the Aichi-Nagoya Games marked their second gold at the tournament.
Forward Lalremsiami Hmar Zote played a decisive role in India’s final victory over China on Saturday, scoring the match’s only goal in the 10th minute. It was her seventh goal of the tournament and ultimately secured gold for India.
Twenty-year-old defender Lalthantluangi also made her mark during the campaign, scoring twice. Although she did not feature in the final, she remained an important member of the Indian squad throughout their Asiad campaign.
