Men's Hockey Asia Cup 2025 Prize Money: How much did Indian men's hockey team receive as champions?

India lifted its fourth Men’s Hockey Asia Cup title in Rajgir.

The Indian men’s hockey team defeated five-time champions South Korea 4-1 in the final of the Men’s Hockey Asia Cup 2025 in Rajgir, clinching their fourth title. The victory was later celebrated with generous rewards.

Hockey India was the first to step forward with a reward, announcing Rs. 3 lakhs for every player in the winning squad. The support staff, who worked behind the scenes, were also honoured with Rs. 1.5 lakh each.

Soon after, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar also joined and announced a cash prize of Rs. 10 lakhs for every player of the Indian hockey team that lifted the Hero Asia Cup 2025.

He further announced Rs 5 lakh for each member of the support staff on Monday, September 8.

India’s domination in Rajgir – Recap

The tournament was held at the Rajgir Sports Complex in Rajgir, Bihar. India dominated from the very beginning, topping Pool B and then remaining unbeaten through the Super 4 stage.

The Men in Blue defeated China 4-3 in the opening match. They thrashed Japan 3-2 in the second match and in the final group stage match India demolished Kazakhstan with a massive 15-0 win.

India kicked off the Super 4 stage with 2-2 draw against the five-time champions South Korea. But then booked their place in the final with a huge 7-0 win over China.

South Korea who hold the record for most titles in the tournament, sealed their spot in the summit clash after a dramatic 4-3 win against Malaysia.

India then crushed the Koreans in the final on Sunday to end eight-year drought in the Asian Hockey tournament. Sukhjeet Singh opened the scoring early in the first minute, followed by a brace from Dilpreet Singh in the 28th and 45th minutes.

Amit Rohidas extended India’s lead to 4-0 in the 50th minute, before Son Dain of South Korea scored a consolation goal, denying the hosts a clean sheet.

With this, the team also secured direct qualification for the FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup 2026, which will be held in the Netherlands and Belgium.
