Men's Hockey Asia Cup 2025: Live streaming, TV channel, where and how to watch?

This is the 12th edition of the tournament.

The Men’s Hockey Asia Cup 2025 is set to be played from 29th August to 7th September in Rajgir, Bihar. A total of eight teams will be vying for continental supremacy.

Teams have been divided into two pools. Pool A consists of India, Japan, China and Kazakhstan, while pool B comprises Malaysia, South Korea, Chinese Taipei and Bangladesh. It is worth noting that Bangladesh and Kazakhstan replaced Pakistan and Oman, who decided to withdraw from the tournament.

South Korea is the most successful team in the history of the championship, with five titles. India and Pakistan have emerged victorious in three editions each.

The format of the competition enables the emerging teams to get more exposure, by playing a sufficient number of matches at the highest level. The top two teams from each pool will qualify for the super 4s, where they will play each other in a round-robin format, with the teams placed first and second gaining entry into the final.

The other four teams—who fail to qualify for the Super4s—will play classification matches to determine thei final positions in the tournament.

Meanwhile, the two teams who fail to advance to the title match from the Super4s stage will play for bronze medal in the third-fourth place match.

The Indian men’s hockey team, led by star player and drag-flicker Harmanpreet Singh, will be looking to make a comeback after their horror showing in the European leg of the Pro League 2024-25, where they lost seven encounters in a row.

Coach Craig Fulton has opted to not experiment, considering that the winner of the competition will secure a spot at the FIH World Cup 2026. Failing to do so, will mean that the Paris Olympics bronze medalists will have to bear the ignominy of playing the World Cup Qualifiers.

Nevertheless, the World Number #7 team would consider themselves favourites to win their fourth title. Malaysia and South Korea are the next best-ranked teams, placed #12 and #13 respectively, while Japan is currently ranked number #18, according to the FIH rankings.

However, these are teams who can challenge the best on their given day. India would thus look to guard themselves from any unnecessary complacency.

The Men’s Hockey Asia Cup 2025 will commence on August 29, with the pool matches. This will be followed by the Super 4s and the classification matches, starting September 3. The final will be played on September 7.
