Men's Hockey Asia Cup 2025: Updated schedule, fixtures, results, live streaming details

Hosts India are firm favourites to clinch the title.
The Men’s Hockey Asia Cup is set to start on Friday, 29th August. The entire tournament will be played in Rajgir, Bihar—a place which has seen huge crowd turn-out during tournaments such as the Women’s Asian Champions Trophy 2024.
Eight teams have been divided into two pools. Pool A consists of India, Japan, China and Kazakhstan, while pool B comprises Malaysia, South Korea, Chinese Taipei and Bangladesh. It is worth noting that Bangladesh and Kazakhstan replaced Pakistan and Oman, who had decided to withdraw from the tournament.
The top two teams from each pool will qualify for the Knockout stages, which will be the Super4s round. In the Super4s stage, all four teams will play each other again in a round-robin format, with the teams placed first and second gaining entry into the final.

Teams that finish third and fourth in the Super4s round, will play in the third-fourth place match. Meanwhile, the other remaining four teams will play for positions in classification rounds.
The Indian men’s hockey team led by Harmanpreet Singh will be looking to make amends after a horror showing in the European leg of the Pro League 2024-25 season, earlier this season, where they lost seven encounters in a row.
Coach Craig Fulton has opted to not experiment, considering that the winner of the competition here will secure a spot at the FIH World Cup 2026. Failing to do so, will mean that the Paris Olympics bronze medalists will have to bear the ignominy of playing the World Cup Qualifiers.
Nevertheless, the World Number #7 team would consider themselves favourites to win their fourth title. They would have to be careful to not become complacent though, as teams like Japan, Malaysia and South Korea can make even the best teams sweat on their given day.
When will Men’s Hockey Asia Cup 2025 begin?
The Hockey Asia Cup 2025 will commence on August 29, with the pool matches. This will be followed by the Super 4s and the classification matches, starting September 3. The final will be played on September 7.

Tournament Format
The eight teams have been divided into two pools of four teams each. Teams in both groups will face each other once each. The top two teams from each pool will then advance to the next stage, which is the Super4s round.
In the Suepr4s round, the four teams will once again face each other in a round-robin format. The top two teams at the completion of the round will then qualify for the final while the other two teams will engage in a third-fourth place match.
Meanwhile, the other four teams who fails to qualify for the Super4s round will face-off in classification rounds to determine their final positions in the tournament.
